Wine of the month
Pinot Grigio
For April we are showcasing zesty Pinot Grigio, a refreshing white wine that, when served cold, is the perfect wine for a hot summer’s day. At Vintner’s Cellar Pinot Grigio is the most popular white wine. This dry wine is light but pleasantly tart, with notes of lemon, lime, green apple and hints of green melon with the scent of honey and herbs.
Most people think Pinot Grigio originated in Italy, but it originated in France where it is known as Pinot Gris. Thought to be a mutation of the grape Pinot Noir, the skins of Pinot Grigio are not green like other white wines but are a bluish gray colour which gives the grape its name.
Pinot Grigio has become Italy’s most popular grape and is known for being a clean and easy-drinking wine.
